Learn Locals helping you get the skills you need

As well as being a Neighbourhood House, DNH is also a registered Learn Local provider with the Victorian Government.

As a Learn Local we provide short courses that focus on digital and computer skills, reading and writing, employability skills, English language and tasters for industries such as Hospitality, Horticulture and Clothing.

Learn Local courses are designed to be flexible and accessible. They are known as pre-accredited education which means that there are no mandated assessments or assignments. Classes are small and delivered in a relaxed welcoming environment, either here at the Broadmeadows Community Hub or at one of our partner Community Hubs in local primary schools.

Our teachers are experienced professionals in their field of learning and passionate about teaching adults. Just read the above article on Elissa Simmons our Horticulture teacher as an example.

If you’ve had interrupted or limited schooling, a Learn Local, is a great place to re-engage or start your learning journey. Our learners vary in age and come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

Our Learn Local courses are government subsidised which allows us to offer them at no cost to eligible learners.

So whether you’re wanting to improve your English, brush up on your digital literacy skills or try your hand at cooking, gardening or sewing, our courses are a great first step. Courses are open all year round so give us a call on 9302 2131 and we’ll help you find something that’s right for you.
