Broadmeadows Resident Advisory Team

The Broadmeadows Resident Advisory Team works with residents to bring about positive change and development.

 

The team can help with:

  • Assistance finding and contacting support services in our local community

  • Assistance completing forms

  • Free computer classes

  • Answering questions and helping solve problems  

Food Parcel Program

Our food parcel program provides food assistance to individuals and families in need. The program distributes pre-packaged or bags of food that contain a variety of items such as vegetables and fruit, canned goods, pasta, rice and cereal.

 

The aim of this program is to ensure that nobody who is experiencing financial hardship goes hungry.

Financial and Material Support
Meeting

If you are experiencing financial hardship, we can help in a number of ways.

 

Our food parcel program can provide fresh fruit, vegetables, and pantry items at no cost.

​

We can provide clothing, bedding and sanitary items.

​

We can help you find and access services and resources that may provide comprehensive financial assistance.

​

If you are finding it difficult to complete forms for Centrelink, housing or other essential services, our friendly staff can help you gather information, fill in forms and answer questions.

​

If you need them, we can offer you financial literacy workshops to help you manage your finances, budget effectively, and understand financial tools and resources.

Social and Recreational Support

Our social and recreational programs are designed to foster social cohesion and friendship, provide opportunities to stay active and healthy, and to reach individuals who may be feeling lonely or isolated.

We have a range of different low cost and no cost activities for you to enjoy:

  • Out and About Program

  • Morning Melodies

  • Free School Holiday Programs

  • Exercise classes

  • Weekly Community Lunch

Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support

We recognise that if you are a refugee or asylum seeker in a new country it may be difficult understanding all the things you need to do to live comfortably in your new community.

​

We have friendly staff who can offer guidance on legal matters related to asylum applications, immigration status, and refugee rights. We partner with legal aid organisations to ensure refugees and asylum seekers understand your options and obligations.

​

Our English language classes and job readiness programs will help you improve your communications skills and help you find employment and achieve economic independence.

​

We can also offer support for your family, including parenting workshops, childcare services, and educational support for children to help them adjust and thrive in their new environment.

​

We can even connect you to established members of the community who can offer guidance, support, and friendship, to help you adapt and feel at home.

Personal and Relationship Services

If you are experiencing personal or relationship issues Dallas Neighbourhood House will provide a safe space to speak confidentially and receive the help and support you need.

 

We offer support groups for issues around parenting challenges, grief and loss, or relationship difficulties.​

​

We can help you and your partner, or family members, build effective communication, conflict resolution, and healthy relationship strategies, tools and skills.

​

We can also provide immediate support and intervention for individuals experiencing acute personal or relationship crises, including referrals to emergency services where required.
